Lil Wayne knew Nicki Minaj was a superstar when he signed her to Young Money, and she continues to make him proud. But while he applauds her latest song “Lookin Ass,” he still knows she has the potential to do better.
Weezy acknowledged the way the incendiary male-bashing anthem off the Young Money compilation Rise of an Empire connects with women in the club.
“It’s either that song that’s making ’em feel good or that new Beyoncé [‘Drunk in Love’],” he told MTV News. “But that’s what Nicki does. I mean, she never fails to amaze me with anything she do.”
While impressed, he also pushes her to strive for more. “Honestly, I’m a tough judge and I’m the boss, so I kinda be like, ‘That’s nice, but you can do better.'”
Weezy is preparing his final album Tha Carter V, and Nicki is in the studio working on her third album The Pink Print.
