Pharrell Williams Announces adidas Partnership

Pharrell Williams has another deal under his hat. The Oscar-nominated hitmaker has announced a long-term partnership with adidas.

The first adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams products will debut this summer.

This marks the first time adidas has partnered with a designer who owns their own textile company. Pharrell’s Bionic Yarn, which turns plastic debris from the ocean into yarn and fabric, will be used in some of his upcoming adidas Originals products.

“Working with an iconic brand like adidas is such an incredible opportunity,” said Pharrell. “From the classic track suit, to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths, adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and for Bionic Yarn.”

The “Happy” singer has also partnered with Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garçons on his first fragrance G I R L, due this September.

Pharrell is not the only hip-hop superstar with ties to adidas. Kanye West announced a high-profile deal with the brand last year, while Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Teyana Taylor have all collaborated on limited edition products.
