...and then you shoot your cousin

The worlds of art and hip-hop collide on the cover of The Roots’ upcoming album …and then you shoot your cousin. The artwork features a reproduction of Romare Bearden’s 1964 mixed media collage “Pittsburgh Memory.”

The project, whose title was inspired by KRS-One, arrives May 19 featuring the single “When the People Cheer,” which debuted last week.

In between their nightly appearances on “The Tonight Show,” The Roots will play Hot 97’s Summer Jam with some friends on June 1.
