Brandy Confirms Split with Fiancé

Ryan Press and Brandy

Brandy and her fiancé Ryan Press won’t be making the trip down the aisle, after all. The couple has called off their engagement.

Following rumors of a breakup earlier this year, a rep for the “Put It Down” singer confirmed the news to Us Weekly.

“They are no longer together,” the rep said in a statement. “The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on.”

“The Game” actress, 35, announced her engagement to the Warner/Chappell Music executive in December 2012.

“They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship,” added the rep. “Brandy is 35 now—that’s what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman.”

It would have been the first marriage for Brandy, who has a 12-year-old daughter Sy’rai with ex Robert Smith.

“Brandy has a daughter and she still wants to be married and have more kids but she is working on so many other things right now,” said the rep. “They haven’t ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time.”

In a 2012 interview with Rap-Up, Brandy said she had given up on love until she met Press. “It was just not working for me in that category. So I said, ‘Well, I’m just gonna be single forever. It’s just gonna be me and my daughter,’” she said. “I reconnected with [Ryan] because I had met him before, we kinda fell in love.”

She should have went ahead and married him. Brandy is nice, but she has issues.

@AL, Brandy is not right to walk away from that stable man. With the timing of the whole incident, it would almost appear as if she was using him to help rejuvenate her career. Similar to the praying mantis, once she had gotten what she wanted from the partner, she wanted to terminate him. She probably offered to “drive him somewhere.”
    We haven’t forgotten, Brandy.

As soon as they get married to someone in the music business the careers go down hill!
Better for her to focus on her music until the one comes along!
Brandy and Mary J Blige are the voices of my generation!

Brandy is so desperate to pop again she’ll do anything. Its quite sad. The only R&B Girls im checking for are Monica, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, Keri Hilson and Beyonce. THATS IT

Better to call it off now than enter a life time of unhappiness.

She can gets them to propose, but she can’t get then to actually marry her. I love Brandy but this is her third engagement. Please don’t announce any more.

Sorry to hear Bran. Better to sort the issues out now then get married and realise you weren’t ready. I still love her music, grew up with her music ever since I Wanna Be Down
