Brandy Confirms Split with Fiancé

Brandy and her fiancé Ryan Press won’t be making the trip down the aisle, after all. The couple has called off their engagement.

Following rumors of a breakup earlier this year, a rep for the “Put It Down” singer confirmed the news to Us Weekly.

“They are no longer together,” the rep said in a statement. “The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on.”

“The Game” actress, 35, announced her engagement to the Warner/Chappell Music executive in December 2012.

“They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship,” added the rep. “Brandy is 35 now—that’s what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman.”

It would have been the first marriage for Brandy, who has a 12-year-old daughter Sy’rai with ex Robert Smith.

“Brandy has a daughter and she still wants to be married and have more kids but she is working on so many other things right now,” said the rep. “They haven’t ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time.”

In a 2012 interview with Rap-Up, Brandy said she had given up on love until she met Press. “It was just not working for me in that category. So I said, ‘Well, I’m just gonna be single forever. It’s just gonna be me and my daughter,'” she said. “I reconnected with [Ryan] because I had met him before, we kinda fell in love.”
