Beyoncé, Pharrell, and Miley Cyrus Among TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World

Beyoncé

Who runs the world? According to TIME, it’s Beyoncé. The singer is among the magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Following her husband Jay Z last year, the 32-year-old poses for one of the black-and-white covers of the iconic magazine, shot by Paola Kudacki.

Sheryl Sandberg praised Beyoncé for being a boss and role model to other women. “She raises her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead,” wrote the COO of Facebook.

Bey looks to her own mother and daughter Blue Ivy as influential figures in her life. “I feel like my mother and my daughter have been probably the most influential, and becoming a mother, looking at my daughter in her eyes, made me into a woman and made me very, very strong,” she said.

She was humbled to be included on the list. “Shooting for TIME magazine was eventually one of the goals in my life,” she revealed. “It’s something important for me as an artist because it’s not about fashion or beauty or music. It’s about the influence I’ve had on culture and to be amongst the other influential people is a huge honor for me.”

Beyoncé joins an illustrious list that includes President Obama, Pope Francis, Serena Williams, Kerry Washington, Miley Cyrus, and Pharrell Williams.

Justin Timberlake penned a flattering letter about the “Happy” hitmaker. “He made me fearless, and I’ve carried that with me the rest of my life,” said the pop superstar. “He injects that vibrant energy into the music in a way that you can feel.”

A proud Dolly Parton showered praise on her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, writing, “She made her point, she made her mark, and more power to her.”

Of course someone is going to say something negative. What we all need to realize is that we’re not on the magazine lmao. But of course BEYONCÉ SLAYS AGAIN.

I’m just waiting for someone who will never be on this magazine to say something negative. Let Beyoncé and everyone else continue to slay you.

i think the real feminist is rihanna. she doesnt care what people think and treats her men like how men treats ladies.

@future, a lack of home training does NOT make one influential. and thank you for acknowledging that rihanna is loose. beyonce is THE most influential person because she changed the face of what a pop star looks and sounds like. this chick came into the Madonna, Britney, Christina room and proved that vocal ability, charisma and the ability to entertain can be mutually exclusive. by the way, a feminist is someone that fights for social & economic change … rihanna hoe’ing does not a feminist make.
p.s. NO ONE in music (male or female) could have done what beyonce did w/ her 5th album AND shatter records.

Congrats to them all! While watching Beyonce’s “Life is but a Dream”; while celebrating one of Jays birthdays she made a speech which included “Jay u made me a woman”. I didn’t understand that but her saying her daughter made her one, that I can understand. I don’t have children but as a woman I can see how you can become free from giving birth and watching your child see the world through honest eyes. Can’t wait for that feeling!

everything about Beyonce is so rehearsed and perfect these days, she barely seems human anymore. Even her face on the cover is so emotionless

You all are expecting someone to say something negative because it is clear as day that that cover looks hideous. Not everything you favorite artist does is “slay” worthy, she is a great artist and all but as far as this cover and shoot, i’ll be the first to say she looks sick.

what an ugly cover. And I dont think its the photography either becuz the second picture is stunning, just poor choice of cover.

    karamelkisses Reply:

@meme, yet again, you miss the entire point. TIME and this list is NOT about fashion but having made a mark on the culture. and there is NO bigger music star than Beyonce. Art is subjective, have you considered point of the cover is to NOT make it a beautiful, glossy Vogue, Elle or Cosmo – ish cover. Not everything is about fashion, weaves or blunts … grow the f*ck up!

@karamelkisses, You stans stay defending as if yall are some promoters or managers. Harriet Tubman could have looked better on this cover than she did, you can not deny that it is not good looking.

    karamelkisses Reply:

@slyboi, again, the cover is not meant to be beautiful. can you read? do you not see that she states this is the cover that she has most wanted because it isn’t about beauty, fashion or music? the vogue 2013 power issue, where beyonce is on the cover is their best selling issue of the past 3 years according to anna wintour. so I’m sure if she wanted a “pretty cover” she could have taken it there. have you considered that she & the photog meant for the cover to be less than glamourous to coincide w/ her single “pretty hurts” which was also released today? I stan for Jesus, just because I’m not e-thugging & making nasty, negative comments doesn’t mean I’m stanning. child, go play in traffic!

@karamelkisses, you just said art is subjective yet your calling me out for my opinion. dumb ass

    karamelkisses Reply:

@meme, you don’t have opinions, you have delusions of grandeur. you don’t like the cover, you think it’s ugly but I guarantee it will join the ranks of her 2013 very beautiful Vogue cover and become of the best selling magazines this year. it’s called the Beyoncé effect befuddled bitch!

So where is RiRi? I mean how do give her the ICON award then crown Beyonce and Miley Cyrus as more influential? I mean Beyonce is influential of course but not as influential today as Rihanna. Esp, when AMAs said that Rihanna is leading the new generation of strong women! This industry is controlled! They put who they want to! I mean Rihanna has more ppl following her than both of them on every social media but yet they’re the most influential? Hmm let me think! No shade, i’m just trying to figure out what they based this on today! Perhaps for Beyonce it’s the way she released her current album? That’s not influential if no one else does it and no one else will because they’ll be seen as copying her! Maybe her music? I’ll say they have a point! Songs like Pretty Hurts, Irreplaceable, Single Ladies, and Listen! Well, Rihanna can compete as well, Half of me, Take A bow, Hard, and Stay! They covered the same magazines, have Grammys and other awards, Trend Setters more so RiRi which the hair cuts and stuff (My point), Tours that gross over 100 million dollars in sales, multiplatinum LPs, #1 singles and a #1 album under their belts WW and USA, Special awards Beyonce (BBMA Millennium Award) & Rihanna (VMAs First Monster Single of the Year Award ’07), and both are Moguls (Endorsements) = Beyonce (l’oreal and Pepsi) and Rihanna (Budwiser and MAC). So how did they determine this?

I live for and love beyonce she is queen she out sings and out performs everyone but with that said I feel like she is soooo boring she gives the same answers and talks about the same stuff every interview there’s a disconnect you cant relate to her because she has a picture perfect like which she has worked hard for and deserves but these days fans want to relate to and interact with the person they are staning for rihanna for example love her aswell and she so real and genuine and authentic its just something about beyonce that only allows you to connect to her work her performances her music not the actual person.

    CurtisDonDeano Reply:

@The Pink Print, I think that’s the thing though, I think Beyonce wants to be known just for her music, philanthropy, and artistry.

As a black man who grew up in a house full of beautiful black women to see a another black woman from MY country prosper at every thing she does is inspiring. She is proof that you can have everything you want by working hard and staying quiet….

The day Beyonce can’t sell a song ( that’ll never come) atleast she’ll be able to sell a story…lol

In all honesty I can see how people can disconnect from Beyonce…those are the types of people who usually are envious of someone’s life because of all the wrong that goes on in there’s.

I love you Bey, I am proud.

P.S. High Fashion shots are known to sometimes look lifeless.
