Eminem and Spike Lee Get Heartfelt in 'Headlights' Video
Eminem is set to premiere the video for his latest single “Headlights” on Mother’s Day. Before its debut, Em and director Spike Lee sat down for a brief interview teasing their cinematic collaboration, which was shot on 8 Mile in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit last month.
“I really love the narrative for what we’ve come up [with] together for ‘Headlights,'” said Spike, who’s directed iconic videos for Michael Jackson, Prince, and Public Enemy.
“It’s a great, great story. It’s heartfelt, some pain in it, but that’s life. So that’s why we’re here, back in the ‘hood, 8 Mile Detroit, shooting where all this took place.”
The Nate Ruess-assisted song, on which Em addresses the tumultuous relationship with his mother Debbie Mathers, appears on The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
