    Best Female Hip Hop Artist:

    Angel Haze
    Charli Baltimore
    Eve
    Iggy Azalea
    Nicki Minaj

Why do they keep doing this to those other poor female rappers? …

    [Reply]

    TheTruth Reply:

    @Realistically,

Actually, Iggy has a chance against Nicki because she’s been making a name for herself this year compared to Angel, Eve & Charli (Whoever that is). I wouldn’t be surprised if Iggy actually won and ended Nicki’s BET Best Female Hip-Hop Artist streak. Who knows. If Iggy does win, that’ll give Nicki (and her Barbz) a rude awakening and let them know Nicki DOES have competition, and if Nicki doesn’t step up with this next album and take it to another level of rap, Iggy will be the new go-to female rapper

    [Reply]

    DON Reply:

@TheTruth, It’s debatable cause Iggy been making a name for herself in the pop crowd not much for the urban community. Nicki has the urban community on lock. And her official single is dropping in a few days. Plus she’s headlining Powerhouse LA on Saturday and Summer Jam… I think Nicki got this. The only thing Iggy got against her is that she have an album out. Then again Trina had an album out before Nicki’s in 2010 and Nicki still won.

    EveRyder Reply:

@Tki, chile bye. Don’t worry about my gir Eve……and u tried it with her selling 4000 copies she sold like 10,000 first wk. U mad or nah?

    Javis Reply:

    @zik, agrees

    [Reply]

    TheTruth Reply:

    @DON,

True, Iggy does have the pop community over the urban community. But if you think about it, when Nicki did her few little pop records, she was aiming for the pop community more than the urban community, and yet, she still won last year. Even though Iggy doesn’t have the urban community yet doesn’t mean she’ll lose to Nicki. Iggy might surprise us this year

    [Reply]

    DON Reply:

@TheTruth, I see Iggy winning but it’s not the same. Sure Nicki had pop music that was selling but she still had rap music that was selling. Iggy looks like she’s making music for one side. Where is Nicki wa juggling both.

    [Reply]

    Andy Reply:

@TheTruth, Nicki had Beez in the Trap being played in all urban stations. Iggy is just do pop.

    [Reply]

    Lorel Reply:

@DON, The above user is correct. The only female hip hop artist who stands a chance against Nicki Minaj in that category is Iggy Azalea. However I think BET will somehow not feel comfortable awarding Iggy Azalea a rap award because she is white. If I’m not mistaken Iggy Azalea is also scheduled to perform at Powerhouse and Hot 97′s Summer Jam the same as Nicki is. Nicki may be dropping a single in two weeks but I don’t think that is enough time for the BET committee to base a single release so close to award time to award an artist when other artists will be rewarded for their work over the past few months. Out of that bunch Iggy Azalea is the only female rapper to even chart high on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with not 1 but 2 singles in the Top 5 “Fancy” and “Problem” with Ariana Grande and 3rd single “Work” as a debut entry in the lower half of the Hot 100. Iggy Azalea is the first female rap artist to really have a major impact on Billboard Charts since Nicki Minaj debuted. But as I said BET will probably disregard all that and award Nicki anyway for the sole purpose of it being Nicki and that Iggy is not black.

    [Reply]

    DON Reply:

@Lorel, Iggy is NOT on the bill for Powerhouse and she’s NOT going to be on the main stage at Summer Jam.

    [Reply]

    Andy Reply:

@Lorel, that and that Iggy does pop, not hip hop

    [Reply]

    EveRyder Reply:

@DON, chile sit cho ass down somewhere. Y’all barbz do anything to discredit other female rappers and now especially Iggy been killin the billboard charts with 2 hits songs in the top 5 billboard chart. A #1 rap/hip hop album #3 on the main charts and she got a total of 3 songs on the billboard main chart bcuz work debut last week at #88. Bet didn’t seem to care when Nicki went pop so why would they care about Iggy? They aren’t concerned about what songs she about to drop or shows she about to perform at. Stay mad hater! Eventho Eve nominated Iggy deserves it tbh.

    [Reply]

    Andy Reply:

@EveRyder, but Nicki also did rap, not only pop. Nicki performed Beez in the Trap two years ago, what’s Iggy going to perform? Fancy? No thanks.

    [Reply]

    Um Reply:

@Andy, It will be something to watch for, for sure! But I have to say that I feel like Fancy will be Iggy’s only successful single. Most people only listened to it for the chorus– and let’s all admit that her rap game was not up to par in Fancy.
The only good line she has in the song is, “I can hold you down like I’m giving lessons in physics.”
The rest is really bad, in my opinion.

    EveRyder Reply:

@Andy,umm who said she’s gonna perform? Hell a lot of ppl didn’t like justin timberlake singing those songs last year with charlie wilson, but Bet didn’t care. She could perform work or change your life with T.I. Her song Fancy is no worst then sum of those male hip hop artists that perform sum of them wack songs. Iggy raps it maybe most pop rap,but she’s a rap artist.

    Samiee Reply:

I recon Nicki will win. She IS the Queen of rap tbh. I really like Iggy, but anyone would have to be damn fine to beat Nicki! She has the best rap voice And lyrics. Her upcoming album will also prove that. QUEEEEEEN.<3

The only reason yall are saying Iggy is Pop is because she is WHITE. But she RAPS more than she sings.

I’m not a Barb, i like only Nicki’s Rap stuff, but i think she kinda deserves it, Iggy & Angel are good tho, & maybe if Nicki doesn’t win then Angel will win, but that probably won’t happen BUT i’m sure Iggy, Eve and Charli Baltimore won’t win. If they wanted to nominate rappers from the 90′s they should’ve nominated Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown or Missy Elliott instead of Eve & Charli.

The awards is 4 days after Chris’s DC trial. If it gets delayed again, he can go, since they’re letting him out in early June (confirmed by LA Sheriffs Department). But I don’t think he’s going to be able to perform, which is exactly why I ain’t watching. Crap’s not worth it anymore.

  23. Chyna

Interesting….very interesting nominations. I always tune into the BET Awards every year…but this year im really excited and anxious to see how its all gonna go down. Im rooting for K.Michelle or Jhene Aiko to take home best female R&B/pop artist. *Sorry Beyonce & Tamar* Both of their music is just…..*sighs*…amazing.! But I’m also suprised as well why Sevyn wasn’t nominated. As far as the best female hip hop category I dont understand why Eve is being nominated? Honestly she should be replaced with Trina. And as far as Iggy is concern I like Iggy but tbh there’s nothing about Iggy to me that screams Hip Hop to me either. She should be nominated for best new artist or best female pop. She’s a dope girl and again I do like her but her sound is more pop to me rather than Hip Hop. And I wonder why Eminems Monster wasn’t nominated.?

    [Reply]

    Lovergurl Reply:

@Chyna, I disagree with you. I think Iggy is very much hip hop. People are quick to label her pop because she is white and crossed over and is very successful. But her “SOUND” is no different than what we accepted from Nicki Minaj when she released pop influenced records. So if people are labeling Nicki “Rap” then so should Iggy. Iggy raps 90% of the time. Even on records where there is signing on it. She’s not the one doing the singing. Iggy is rapping. Iggy may not rap about stereotypical hood antics but she is nonetheless a rapper.

    [Reply]

  24. Varner

Yeah I think Iggy Azalea deserves to win Best Female Hip Hop Artist. It would be unfair for BET to not recognize how much Iggy has been killing the Billboard Charts and just reward Nicki simply because she’s already established herself in rap. BET should be fair to other female rappers. Iggy Azalea’s records “Fancy” and her collaboration with Ariana Grande “Problem” are in the top 10 on billboard right now plust Iggy is currently #1 on the Rap Charts. So BET really should not just hand Nicki the award off of features that did not do as well as Iggy’s solo work this year.

    [Reply]

  25. Mr. Fye

Ive really stop caring about the fairness of any awards show esp. the BET Awards. If this was any kind of based on facts August Alsina and Rich Homie would never have a legit chance of winning any award let alone a new artist award. But last year was a AMAZING BET Awards show. One of the best EVER I hope they make it as grand as last year!

    [Reply]

  26. Cherryfalls

I knew Black Exploitation Television was gonna nominate Iggy. They need to retire the female rap category. Put the women in with the men. Cause they seem like they’re just nominating anybody to fill the category. I KNOW if they just had a best rap category people like Iggy and Future wouldn’t be nominated. If Iggy wins it will cause too much controversy especially for a channel that’s supposed to cater to a black audience.

    [Reply]

    Shayla Reply:

@Cherryfalls, The only part I agree with is that it will cause controversy if she wins. The reason is because she is white. But if we are going to be fair in the situation she deserves to win Best Female Hip Hop Artist. In case you havent been paying attention to the Billboard Charts Iggy Azalea is the first female rapper since Nicki Minaj to actually dominate the charts. BET has also nominated Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake who have also had a great year this year. And if either of them win a BET AWARD it would be well deserved also.

    [Reply]

    Cherryfalls Reply:

@Shayla, People keep throwing around the word fair. Which is funny because these award shows are not fair. You can argue all you want that she isn’t being treated fairly because she’s white, and I agree with you. I think her being an attractive white woman with killer fashion sense is what’s currently driving her career. What’s not fair is that she isn’t being held to the same standards as other female emcees because she’s white. I’m all for diversity as long as it’s fair.

    [Reply]

  27. Jay

They’ll never give it to Iggy cuz she’s white or all hell will break lose ALTHOUGH she does deserve it more this year for finally breaking through, etc. :/

    [Reply]

    Shayla Reply:

@Jay, But what if Justin Timberlake, Mcklemore, or Robin Thicke wins an award? will people also raise hell over that. They are also white artists who are nominated this year and who have had a great year. Honestly it shouldn’t boil down to just race. Black people have got to stop being prejudice to other race of people if we expect them the same in return. We are just as much prejudice and discriminant as others who do the same to us.
