Trey Songz was back in the hot seat on “The Breakfast Club” on Tuesday. Fresh off the Summer Jam stage, Trigga talked about the state of R&B, collaborating with 50 Cent on “Smoke,” and why he can relate to August Alsina.

His sixth album Trigga drops July 1, and he couldn’t be happier. “I’m at the point in my life where I’m just so happy about everything,” he said. “I’m just happy about my music, I’m happy my family’s taken care of, I’m wealthy, my music is sounding amazing.”

He has spoken with Chris Brown since his release from jail. “He out. He good,” said Trey of his longtime friend.

Plus, hear him open up about the two women he was in love with (Lauren London and Helen Gedlu) and his workout regime.

On 50 Cent: “50’s smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. The actual ‘Smoke’ record was for [Dr.] Dre. I was in with Dre. We did about five or six records three years ago.”

On August Alsina: “I rock with dude. I believe in him. I think he’s very talented. He’s dealing with a lot in his life outside of music. … I’m off that. I was on that. I was hype. I think my temper might have been worse than his.”

On their beef: “One of things that’s crazy about hip-hop culture that you see nowhere else is that we’re always trying to bring each other all the way down, and we gotta have this beef and that beef. I’m cool, man. It’s enough room for all of us to be successful and make money.”

On Chris Brown: “I spoke to him this morning. He actually texted me this morning. He out. He good. Chris and I, we actually did our first tour together…and I always looked to him as a younger brother. The trajectory of my career was much slower than his. It was much more gradual. I was able to embrace and deal with things differently.”

On his current relationship status: “I’m an R&B singer. I’m not in love.”
