Usher Defends Justin Bieber Following Racist Remarks

Justin Bieber and Usher

Usher has remained quiet in the wake of Justin Bieber’s racist videos. But the R&B singer is finally speaking out in defense of his protégé.

He took to Instagram on Saturday to address the controversy and insist that Bieber is not a racist.

“At my core, I am a person that supports growth and understands without judgement, that growth often comes as a result of pain and continues effort,” wrote Usher. “As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist.”

The two videos, which leaked online this month, show a 15-year-old Bieber making racist jokes and singing his hit “One Less Lonely Girl,” but replacing the word “girl” with the N-word.

“What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs,” added Usher. “What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”

Bieber has since apologized for the offensive jokes. “As a young man, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt,” he said in a statement. “I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance.”

In addition to Usher, Mike Tyson, Mack Maine, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, and Soulja Boy have also voiced support for Bieber.

Self-hatred is a terrible thing. I cannot believe these fellow blacks making excuses for him. If a black superstar called whites racial slurs, all hell would break loose! That he was a “naive child” is laughable. On top of being a sellout, Usher is so damn ignorant. He obviously isn’t award of the multitude of teenagers that know better than to use racial slurs and joke about one of the biggest hate groups in the history of this country.

There’s a difference between someone who said a racist word and someone who is racist.

Justin Bieber, as moronic as he might be, does not hate or dislike black people. He used an inappropriate and racist word with a terrible history. Call him stupid for that. But he is a not a racist.

As stupid as Justin Bieber is, I can see why people are forgiving him. When you’re 15 years old, you don’t know any better. I remember when my friends and I would always say stupid stuff when we didn’t know any better at that age. If he said that NOW, it would be a whole other story.

I live in the Netherlands, in a mainly white area. I have witnessed white kids saying those kinds of things on a daily basis. When I stood up for a girl in eigth grade, a white boy told me I had no right to speak because I was black.

I believe it’s because racism never has been a prominent factor in their lives. Some of them really don’t get just how enraging their words are.

I do like to clarify, though, living amongst white people has also shown me that the greater portion of them are nice and genuine folks. I don’t want anyone to get it twisted.

What Justin Bieber said is inexcusable and tasteless, but it’s not rare. It happens all the time.

I think it very easy to brand Justin as young, naive and unaware of the depth within his actions, however if that was the case, why was this young and naive boy clued up on the KKK and what they stood for?

As for he’s not racist because the majority of his friends are black people. Those are the same friends he is using to endorse his music and new bad boy image. Aren’t those friends the same ones he kept using as scapegoats when he was being investigated for drugs.

As for Usher, I wouldn’t expect anything less, in the same way Bieber is using his “friends” to make money, Usher is doing the exact same thing with Justin.

At the end of the day we only saw two videos, who knows what he says when there’s no camera around?!

you all are some idiots to compare a 90 year old woman who knows better ( Paula Deen ) and a 100 year old man who knows better ( Donald Sterling ) to a 14/15 year old kid. As kids we all say dumb stupid sh*t like that, i did it as well… does not mean you are a racist. He was a kid, lets be real. WTF. Dude clearly has 0 white friends, he has 100% black friends yet he’s a racist. yall should put your personal hate for him away and just tell the truth!

At the end of the day, there are consequences for your actions. You joke about a racially sensitive subject more than once, you will be labeled as a racist.
Of course, Usher will pull an Uncle Tom and come to the defense of Bieber. Thats his cash cow and he is protecting his investment.

If Beiber had just said black boy would that have really been better?

Singing off key “If I kill you then I can join the KKK and there will be one less black boy in the world hey hey hey.” Yeah I guess that is much better! How about a hangman with Usher’s son’s head in the noose swinging from a tree?

Good thing Justin Beiber didn’t say he wanted to kill a Jew and become a NeoNazi. If he had, then his career would be sooo over. It would not matter if he said “hymie” or Jew.
