Eminem Becomes First Artist to Earn Two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards

Eminem

Marshall Mathers is making history once again. The Detroit rapper has become the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Single Diamond Awards.

The Recording Industry Association of America awarded Eminem with a new Diamond certification in recognition of his 2010 single “Not Afraid” surpassing the 10 million sales and streams threshold.

He previously received the 11x multi-Platinum Digital Single Diamond Award for “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna.

“We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards,” said Cary Sherman, Chairman & CEO, RIAA. “This singular achievement—earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs—is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history.”

In addition to his latest achievement, Eminem has two 10x multi-Platinum Diamond certified albums, 2000′s The Marshall Mathers LP and 2002′s The Eminem Show. He has sold over 37 million albums and 31 million digital singles in the United States.

In August, Eminem will launch his three-city “Monster Tour” with Rihanna, visiting Los Angeles, Detroit, and New York. He will also headline two concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.

@lmaoAtHaters, yeah, it is a new system since 2013. I think the equivalences are: 100 steams = 1 digital sale

Eminem very likely did not sold 10 million digital copies of his single. Probably around 5-6 million and the rest was added with the millions of steams

Streams? It’s unreliable to go by data from streams -people can watch or listen to the same song on repeat but who’s going to repeatedly buy the same record to boost sales?
