Rihanna Gets Animated in DreamWorks’ ‘Home’ [Trailer]

Home

After making her big-screen acting debut in the 2012 sci-fi film Battleship, Rihanna is taking on a new role. The pop superstar lends her voice to DreamWorks Animation’s film Happy, based on Adam Rex’s children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday.

RiRi plays the lead character Tip opposite “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons. Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin also lend their voices.

In the film, friendly aliens invade Earth to escape their mortal enemy. When one of their own (Parsons) accidentally reveals their whereabouts, he has to flee with a teenage girl (Rihanna), taking a road trip across a postapocalyptic America. Along the way, he learns what it means to be human.

Rihanna is reportedly working on a concept album based around the film and will perform new songs in the movie.

Home lands in theaters on March 27, 2015.

@K, I’m here for any black female lead and for it to be in animation is a leap in itself, and I think her voice is fine, the main character drives, she’s at least 16…I think it works.

It looks good and cute but her voice doesn’t match the animations very well. Hopefully they work the little bugs out.

@jayadee, I agree! the girl looks so young yet she has the voice of a 26 year old pop sensation

    Rihanna is so accomplished.

How much have you done at 26 years old?

    Great inspiration.

@KENBARBUK, Yes there are people over 26 here, that’s not old.

However, being accomplished doesn’t make someone a great inspiration.

    Cute movie,
Rih’s voice seems out of place for a child lol

@KENBARBUK, it’s a teenager she drives in trailer remember plus the book says 15/16 years old not an 8 year old kid

I think in regards to rihanna’s voice it was a toss-up between making it fit the character or having the audience recognise that its rihanna’s voice(guess rihanna’s voice won out.). But i think with the right promo and soundtrack this could do really well…kids will love it. And i also think black parents should just take their kids out to support it whether good or bad and get more black character as leads in this animations films…and only way to do that is to prove that a black character can bring in the cash.

@Blue, You know they won’t but if it was Angelina Jolie they would be front row center. Anyways my lil bro brown hair, blue eyes love him some Rih Rih. Gonna be a fight at home b/c my mom can’t stand the sight of her and my brother and all his 10yo friends want to marry Rihanna.

@Cute, this is the thing i dont get with certain groups of people and especially african-americans they complain about this and that being taken away from them and yet they dont support while its still with them. Take music industry for example people make a fuss about adele, robin thicke(not so much), bieber, JT, Miley… profitting by doing ‘black music’ yet they dont support the black artists…how many R&B artist flop yearly, struggling to hit gold…

It looks cute and I especially love the last part the look on her face too funny. She is not a little girl how many little girls drive a car. She is just a girl in the movie and her voice sounds fine to me, I don’t see anything wrong with it and the character. I hope my baby bro don’t see this b/c he will want to go every damn day to see his future wife. There is so much of Rih I can take. Now I know how I will be spending my Spring Break lol.

Oh my Gosh! I LOVE IT! There were some parts that didn’t sound like Rihanna, and there were some parts that did (but it’s minor).
