Kingdom

Common puts on for his city in the dark and gritty video for “Kingdom” featuring XXL Freshman Vince Staples. The nearly eight-minute film, directed by Hype Williams, documents life on the streets of Chicago.

Executive produced by No I.D., Common’s 10th album Nobody’s Smiling is set to arrive on July 22.

The concept-driven project was inspired by the tragedies in Chicago. “We came up with this concept Nobody Smiling [and it] was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago,” said Common of the follow-up to 2011’s The Dreamer/The Believer.
