Report: Mary J. Blige Taps U.K. Hitmakers for ‘The London Sessions’

Mary J. Blige

The Queen of Hip-Hop is coming to England. Mary J. Blige is reportedly working with Britain’s top hitmakers on a new album.

According to HITS Daily Double, British producer/songwriter Naughty Boy will oversee the project, tentatively titled The London Sessions. It will feature a “who’s who” of the U.K.’s finest new writers, producers, and neo-soul singers.

Naughty Boy released his debut album Hotel Cabana last year and has produced for Rihanna (“Half of Me”), Emeli Sandé (“Clown”), and Fantasia (“Side Effects of You”).

The announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise. Earlier this year, Mary collaborated with English electro duo Disclosure on their “F for You” remix and dueted with Sam Smith on his hit “Stay With Me,” which they performed live at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Mary most recently contributed 14 songs to the Think Like a Man Too soundtrack. Last year, she debuted her first holiday album A Mary Christmas, which sold around 500,000 copies.

    @greeneggz&H.A.M, Thank you, I was preparing to make that complaint myself.

    And even that title bears little weight for Mary. Let’s keep it real, the hottest that Mary has been recently was when she was singing for chicken.

    @greeneggz&H.A.M @MandelaBarb, You sound like you never read this woman’s Wikipedia. Mary has had that title for nearly, if not more, than 20 years. Begin your research with the What’s the 411 and go from there. #FoolishIgnorance

    @The Shaded Truth, I haven’t read it, and I don’t plan on reading it. Because when an artist is winning while still relevant, I shouldn’t HAVE to go research why they’re good. It should be evident. There’s no denying that Mary was great, but she peaked long ago. You sound upset.

    I hate myself. I am stupid. I don’t have a life. I am a waste of space on this planet. I am a internet coward. I’m a pathetic drunk, and a lying crackhead.

    I bow down to Queen Mary.

    This seems like this could be really interesting…I’m excited for it! I really enjoyed her work on the “Think Like A Man Two” soundtrack so at least that’ll hold me over until this project is released.

    I hate when kids who never read anything truly believe they have a valid comprehension of one’s success.

    @The Shaded Truth,

    I hate when pretentious people make large assumptions about the measure in the validity of the comprehension of others in regards to issues that are blown out of proportion to their significance.

    But you can at me though, bitch. I see you lurking down here, Rap-Up roach.
