New Music: Ariana Grande f/ The Weeknd – ‘Love Me Harder’

Ariana Grande and The Weeknd

In advance of Tuesday’s release of her sophomore album My Everything, Ariana Grande has teamed with MTV to preview four new songs including “Be My Baby” featuring Cashmere Cat, the Harry Styles-penned “A Little Bit of Your Heart,” Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder-produced “Why Try,” and her duet with The Weeknd, “Love Me Harder.”

The pop superstar and Canadian crooner ooze sex on the breathy Max Martin-co-produced midtempo.

“If you really need me, you gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, got to love me harder,” coos Ariana, while The Weeknd responds, “I’ll make it feel like the first time.”

In addition to performing alongside Nicki Minaj and Jessie J at the VMAs, Ariana will hit the stage for a solo performance of “Break Free.”

This girl is a horrible artist. I never understand what she’s singing she is just known in the music scene because of her st#upid fan base who supports her.

@Justin Timberlake, .you may not be in to her music but she is very talented her voice is almost like Mariah Carey

    Justin Timberlake Reply:

@nick, It’s not hard for an artist to copy a voice tone which sounds similar but please don’t even compare her voice with Mariah Carey’s because she will never have a voice like her and I’m not even a fan of Mariah

@Justin Timberlake, No kidding man i’m glad someone finally has been saying it. I came here because of the weeknd…his vocal range slaughters this clownish unlyrical chick on her own main track lmfao. I hate how the mainstream has tried to put mariahs face on this chick. Mariah has a 4 vocal octave range…one of the highest in the world and her writing is actually profound and worth something meaningful and has been since the 90′s. This ariana is mainstream weakness of today’s radio with her pathetic two octave vocal range and lack of lyrical talent.

    Jackson Reply:

@Forrest C, You are talking out of the side of your neck saying this girl only has a two octave range. You don’t have to like her, but don’t lie to make your arguement better. It makes you look like a hater. She might not be your cup of tea, but apparently, she’s doing something right.

@Justine, hahahahaha yea right. he actually has talent and doesn’t need autotune. He is way past her level and dramatically changing the music industry. She is just getting fame for her looks and her fans.

    Major Sushi Reply:

@XOFOREVER, LMAO “Auto-Tune” Ariana was Broadway trained! Something you could never understand. XD

    lmfao “auto-tune” XD buahahahaha

    Nessa Reply:

@Justine, don’t be stupid girl. Abel has just started and he is already almost to the top. He doesn’t need a bunch of autotune to make his voice and music sound good. Grande is just going to wind up like all the ex-disney stars that tried to do their own thing but wind up no where.
Probably just going to cut her out of this song and just download the Weeknd’s part lol

    [Reply]

    Whet? Reply:

@Nessa, Ariana doesn’t even use autotune . She doesn’t need it. Listen to her perform live. She sounds pretty much the same. She’s insanely talented, you don’t have to like at at all, but no one can deny that the girl can sang! She’s breaking records left and right with platinum and gold singles and she just broke the same record Michael Jackson did. She’s doing extemely well whether you like it or not. And good luck cutting out Ariana’s parts when she’s literally the majority of the song.

    Nessa Reply:

@Justine, she should consider herself lucky to be working with Abel this early in her career.

@sss, If you haven’t heard, not everyone is The Weeknd’s cup of tea.

Didn’t you hear him being interviewed about Ariana? He wanted to work with her, because she appreciated his music.

She has no dimensions and her voice is to light. It’s like a 4 cylinder with minimal horsepower.

I’ve said it since day 1, she needs to learn to use her voice and develop some musicality.

Love Me Harder and Be My Baby are great songs. Be My Baby has an old school R&B feel to it, Cashmere Cat really killed the production on that.

I really like this, I was expecting a much more commercial “pop” orientated album. I love all these tracks & I have a new found respect for Harry Styles. I honestly fee like Ariana is well on her way to being regarded as one of those artists who can sing anything a la Beyoncé.

  18. Eli

She really has a great voice but it goes to waist with her washed up generic songs. Plus she doesn’t even know how to fully use it. Get tips from Mariah. I like her but she needs to get some musical help & work with some REAL producers to make REAL music not just a radio joint. thats what most of her album & songs are. I still support your Ariana.

Never liked Ariana from the beginning , seems so fake but people get caught up with her character on Victorious . She is NOT Cat , she was acting . She can sing , yea , but she’s not over-the-top . No where near Mariah’s level . The media needs to stop giving this girl so much attention.
With that said , Abel’s verse was amazing as always. Although I did not like the “pop” feel to the song .
