Eminem Readies New Album ‘ShadyXV’

Eminem

Shady’s back. Fifteen years after his breakout debut, Eminem will release his ninth album ShadyXV this fall.

The follow-up to 2013′s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will arrive on November 28 aka Black Friday.

The official announcement was made in a trailer for the Denzel Washington crime thriller The Equalizer, which will air during Sunday’s VMAs.

Shady XV

The first release off the project, “Guts Over Fear” featuring Sia, will premiere on iTunes tonight, and can also be heard in the movie trailer.

“Blink and you’ll miss it… #VMAs #SHADYXV,” tweeted Em, who is nominated for seven awards.

A teaser image was also posted on his website and later removed.

Shady XV

Eminem hinted at the album by wearing a T-shirt with the title during the last stop of “The Monster Tour” with Rihanna at Detroit’s Comerica Park on Saturday.

ShadyXV coincides with the 15th anniversary of Eminem’s major label debut, The Slim Shady LP, which was certified quadruple platinum.

UPDATE: According to Shady Records, ShadyXV will be a two-CD compilation. One disc will feature the label’s greatest hits including 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” while the other consists of new material from Em, Slaughterhouse, Bad Meets Evil, D-12, and Yelawolf.

It will drop on Monday, November 24, and not on Black Friday as previously stated.

ShadyXV arrives on the label’s 15th anniversary and marks its 15th release.

A Shady collabos album is more likely.

    [Reply]

    Sal Reply:

@gmc, What makes you say that? If you add up his solo albums including Infinite the next one would be his 9th. He has done both compilation albums (Re-Up) and Greatest Hits (Curtain Call) but if you add those in he would be over 10 albums already.

Seems like a new solo album of new material to me.

@KEN., Oh is entitled to his or her own opinion. That’s just what it is an opinion. All this person is saying is that albums coming out at that time will have a loss of sales due to the amount of people buying eminems album. Nowhere in her sentence does it say nobody is aloud to buy more than 1 album. So think before you speak and don’t be rude to people you don’t know for no apparent reason. It only makes you look like an ass.

How could it be a greatest hits album when the new song, “Guts Over Fear” is on it?? I don’t think he can consider that song one of his greatest hits when no one has heard the full song yet. Not greatest hits ladies and gentlemen! Eminem is dropping another album.

    [Reply]

    Dracarysheart Reply:

    @KC,

When he released Curtain Call: The Hits he had his new songs ‘When I’m Gone’, ‘Shake That’ and ‘Fack’ on it so it could possibly be a greatest hits album with a few new songs on it.

Em is loosing his edge… His last album was trash I removed all traces of it from my computer after 1 play through… He is going to end up like Jay-Z totally irrelevant and disconnected from the streets and reality where the rest of live and struggle day to day… This seems kinda very commercial too all aimed at making a buck over the consumer orgy aka the “holidays” and “Christmas”….

    [Reply]

    Eddy Reply:

@Dask, Personally I enjoyed the album. He got towards his angry and disrespectful side again on that album.
Obviously it’s not as good as his older projects but he’s not trash.

@Dask, art is subjective and I, for one, liked the last album. He has evolved as he’s aged so he’s not picking on teeny boppers anymore. That would be kind of weird at his age.

Like Jay-Z say “Like my old music; buy my old album”. Artists change and so far, I’m along for the ride.

To everyone who is already panicking about this ablum sucking since its only been a year since his last one: there was only a one year difference between The Slim Shady LP (1999), and The Marshall Mathers LP (2000). So don’t worry, magic will still be made.

    [Reply]

  20. D-tin

So, to everyone who’s saying it’s a greatest hits album, you obviously didn’t see in the story that it’s his ninth album. MMLP 2 was his eigth studio album, and Shady XV (which I was expecting to be called SSLP 2) will be the follow-up and his ninth studio album.

but is says it would be his “ninth” album. let’s his discography do the math:

    Infinite (1996)
    The Slim Shady LP (1999)
    The Marshall Mathers LP (2000)
    The Eminem Show (2002)
    Encore (2004)
    Relapse (2009)
    Recovery (2010)
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013)

curtain call not include. there’s a hopeful chance to a new stuff.

All you people saying it’s a greatest hits or collabo album, are morons. It’s clearly a new studio album that’s to commemorate The Slim Shady LP. The same way The Marshall Mathers LP2 was made to commemorate The Marshall Mathers LP. I can’t remember what track it’s on but he actually foreshadows this album on The Marshall Mathers LP2.

Ok MMLP2 didn’t suck people are morons but wasnt as good as Recovery which i think was 1od his best Albums MMLP2 showed his unbelievably lyrical skills but we already knew that Rap God and Wicked Ways were awesome but seemed to lack something as a whole. GOOD SONGS ARE MORE THAN LYRICAL TALENT the beat has alot to do with a song but its hard to keep topping each Album

Who’s with me on this. Eminem has been replaced or is now under extreme mind control. He was so politically motivated and was anti government, telling us to fight back for our rights as people. Then after the album with “mosh” came out, it was over. Now he just showcases his talent but doesn’t talk about anything real or show true emotion anymore. He says nothing about the government or anything political and doesn’t stand for anything. Something happened to him when he went away and “almost died”. The illuminati definitely played a part in that.

    [Reply]

    Dylan Schaefer Reply:

@REALNESS, I disagree with you. He does put true and strong amount of emotion into his work. He did almost die of an accidental overdose. And him almost dying was a wake-up call for him. He has different perspectives about some things now, and that doesn’t necessarily mean that his views are one hundred percent different. Recovery was a VERY emotional album, and MMLP2 was more of his old self in some ways. For example: in Rhyme or Reason, he talks about his anger with his dad again. And he even ends with “The only message that I have to send is ‘Dad, I’m back at it again.’” And on top of that, MMLP2 ends with a Ken Kaniff skit which hadn’t been done since Relapse, which is another reason that I believe he is still him. He is still Shady.

    [Reply]

    REALNESS Reply:

@Dylan Schaefer, the emotion I was referring to is when he is in person. I saw a show recently, actually went to the concert. It’s not the same human being as the up in smoke tour(went to that also). His face literally never changed expressions and his mannerisms look faked. The lyrics on those songs were emotional yes, but he as a human shows nothing. Also if you’ll notice, it seems that royce the 5’9″ seems to write his shit for him. What I’m saying is, if his whole existence he stood for is now different, it can’t be the same guy. Relapse and recovery failed. That’s why they had to “recreate” what was done before and already proved to be successful. I myself could recycle that old material and play off of it. Any professional could. If it was the real Eminem, then he would be going against all the people in power right now, because this world is more fucked up than its ever been.

In my opinion, it won’t be only a collaboration album or a greatest hits album because if you look at Bad Meets Evil Hell: The Sequel it isn’t listed as one of his eight albums. And I say eight because above it says SHADY XV will be his ninth, which to me excludes the Bad Meets Evil album and the Re Up, as well as Curtain Call. Now I do assume that he will have a collaboration in at least one song; but from what observed about this album, it will be HIS album. Plus, he just released his new single, “Guts Over Fear (feat. Sia)” which I believe is from this upcoming album.

This reply wasn’t meant to say anybody is wrong or yo say that I wouldn’t like something like that, but simply to state what I think about SHADY XV.

The plot thickens. Now it appears this 2 CD set will be one disc of greatest hits and one disc of brand new material of Em and affiliated projects (Slaughterhouse ,Bad Meets Evil,D12 ,Yellawolf) . And it`s not even clear at present is the first disc GH of Eminem or from the 15 years of Shady Records artists. It seems to me it`s more like a marking of Shady Records 15th anniversary but since it`s all led by Em,all media jumped to announce it as his album.
