Prince and 3rdEyeGirl

Eight years since his last appearance, Prince made a royal return to this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.” The music icon served up an uninterrupted eight-minute medley—a first in the 40-year history of “SNL”—with his all-female band 3rdEyeGirl and guest vocalist Lianne La Havas.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you are so lucky tonight,” host Chris Rock told the crowd while introducing Prince.

To kick things off, he dueted with La Havas on “Clouds” off his album Art Official Age. He then segued into “Marz” off his and 3rdEyeGirl’s other new album Plectrumelectrum, and capped things off with Plectrumelectrum‘s “Anotherlove.”

During the episode, it was announced that Kendrick Lamar will perform on the November 15 episode with host Woody Harrelson.

Watch Prince blow the roof off “SNL.”
