The Game's 'Documentary 2’ Debuts at No. 2
Ten years since his debut, The Game returns to familiar territory with the sequel, The Documentary 2.
The seventh album from the Compton rapper debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 95,000 equivalent album units (83,000 in pure album sales). The Documentary 2, which was released independently, is the first part of a double album—the second disc, The Documentary 2.5, dropped Oct. 16.
The Game is no stranger to the top 10—it’s his seventh appearance on the list following Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf (No. 7 in 2014), Jesus Piece (No. 6 in 2012), The R.E.D. Album (No. 1 in 2011), LAX (No. 2 in 2008), Doctor’s Advocate (No. 1 in 2006), and The Documentary (No. 1 in 2005).
But he was unable to top Selena Gomez, whose latest album Revival takes the No. 1 spot, with 117,000 equivalent albums (85,000 in pure sales) during the week ending Oct. 15.
Elsewhere in the top 10, The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness falls 2-3 with 77,000 units, while Fetty Wap’s self-titled debut holds steady at No. 4 with 53,000. Drake and Future’s joint mixtape What a Time to Be Alive is down 3-5 with 49,000, and last week’s chart-topper, Janet Jackson’s Unbreakable, slides to No. 8 (30,000).
