Report: Missy Elliott to Join Katy Perry for Super Bowl Halftime Show

  /  01.29.2015

Missy Elliott is set to touch down at the Super Bowl. The rapper will reportedly join Katy Perry during Sunday’s halftime show.

A source tells The Associated Press that Missy is slated to make a surprise appearance during Katy’s performance at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Missy was featured on a remix to Katy’s 2011 hit “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”

During a press conference on Thursday, Katy hinted at an “old school” surprise guest.

“I’m very excited about this guest because I thought long and hard about it and wanted to kinda bring someone back, a throwback of sorts, that definitely needed some more shine,” she said. “All I can say is that it will be a real female fun night.”

She promised that the surprise would captivate viewers. “When you hear the first ring of the chord, I think jaws will drop and faces will melt.”

While Missy hasn’t been officially announced by the NFL, Katy has confirmed that Lenny Kravitz will join her on stage.

“I think I’m gonna play on my strengths, which I think are humor, incredible joy,” she told reporters. “I think my songs are anthemic. I just hope at the end of the day that over 100 million people are all smiling in unison.”

Super Bowl XLIX airs Sunday at 3:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
