Kanye West Brings Out Big Sean, Raekwon, & Vic Mensa at Surprise London Show
Following his television performances and lecture at Oxford University, Kanye West continued his European tour with a surprise gig at KOKO London on Tuesday night. Fans clamored to get their hands on tickets, which went on sale just hours beforehand and sold out in minutes.
The crowd of 1400 went wild when Yeezus finally took the stage at around 1 a.m. Standing in front of a projection of violent, medieval imagery, he served up crowd favorites including “Mercy,” “Cold,” and “Power.”
He repped Britain’s grime scene by bringing Boy Better Know members Skepta, JME, and Meridian Dan onstage.
At one point, Kanye alluded to the mysterious cover art for his album So Help Me God, referring to the design as the “Virgin Mary symbol.”
Chicago’s own Vic Mensa touched down for “Wolves” and he and ‘Ye debuted a new song called “U MAD.”
While promoting his No. 1 album Dark Sky Paradise across the pond, Big Sean joined his G.O.O.D. Music fam for “Blessings” and “I Don’t Fuck With You.”
Following “Blood on the Leaves,” Kanye brought Raekwon to the stage. The Wu-Tang Clan rapper delivered “C.R.E.A.M.” as ‘Ye, Sean, and Vic Mensa mouthed the lyrics.
Surrounded by his special guests, he capped off the exhilarating evening with his new single “All Day.” He left the stage before returning for an encore performance that ended around 2:30 a.m.
