Kanye West Talks Rumors, New Album, & Second Child

  /  06.11.2015

In between working on his next album and taking his daughter to tap class, Kanye West called into Nessa on Hot 97 on Thursday to address rumors, his second child, and new music.

First order of business: He shut down a bogus report that he cleared out Chuck E. Cheese for North West’s 2nd birthday. “I haven’t even been to Chuck E. Cheese,” said ‘Ye.

But these days, he’s brushing off the rumors and is focused on his family (“I’m riding through the ‘burbs with no woes”) and upcoming album Swish, which he is in no rush to release. He actually wants to disappear from the spotlight for a while so he can finish the music.

Soon ‘Ye will be adding another member to his family. Last month, Kim Kardashian announced that she and her husband are expecting their second child. But when Nessa asked the sex of the baby, he stopped her in her tracks. “Not on this conversation!” he said.

Plus, find out who he’s rooting for at the NBA Finals and why North West’s name is not weird.

On his next album: “I’m just living my life. I’m having a good time, I’m with my family, and I’m getting the opportunity to create, work on my clothes, work on my films, work on DONDA, work on the next album, work on it slowly, make it an art project, deliver the innovation I know and that I’ve consistently done since 808s and Dark Fantasy. I’m in my own zone. I can’t walk around tryna defend myself.”

On North West’s name: “Ya’ll be calling my daughter’s name weird, like her name should be like some name that you’ve heard before. I don’t like to say weird when something is innovative and fresh. I hate that fact that creatives are put down so much and put in the position where they can’t even speak out loud. That’s the reason why the world be ugly. It’s millions of beautiful colors in the world, but the world is only controlled by one color. I fight for the people who see those colors, who understand it. And I’ll take the hit.”

On the Cavaliers vs. Warriors: “I’m good friends with LeBron [James]. I would like to be really great friends with Steph [Curry]. I think he would be an awesome Yeezy athlete. The world would love to see Steph in some Yeezys.”

On staying focused: “I really want to go away. I’ve been doing a lot of features and everything. Right now, I just want to take some time to really focus on my album, focus on this next collection, and focus on North’s birthday. Just focus on my family and then be able to recharge, energize, and then bring something of value. I’m completely boring actually. All I do is go to the studio every day. [Sings in the style of Drake] I’m riding through the ‘burbs with no woes. I’m not going nowhere with no wos. I’m not at the club… I’m never gon’ be nowhere.”
