Kanye West Headlines Britain's Glastonbury Festival

  /  06.28.2015

Kanye West made history while headlining Britain’s Glastonbury Festival on Saturday. The hip-hop icon joined an illustrious list of past headliners including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Coldplay, and The Rolling Stones.

Following sets from Pharrell Williams, Paloma Faith, and George Ezra, Yeezus closed out the fourth day of the festival at Worthy Farm in England. Decked out in blue denim with splattered white paint, he kicked off his 100-minute set on the Pyramid Stage with “Stronger” before running through his catalog including “Ni**as in Paris,” “New Slaves,” and “Heartless.”

He brought out Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon for “Lost in the World,” dedicated a song to his wife Kim Kardashian (“She brought this poetry out of me”), and covered part of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

At one point, comedian Lee Nelson stormed onto the stage and rapped alongside ‘Ye before being carted off by security.

“I Kanye’d Kanye. That was for you @taylorswift13 #Leezus,” tweeted the prankster, who wore a “Lee-zus” shirt.

The decision to give Kanye the Saturday slot drew controversy. Emily Eavis, Glastonbury’s co-organizer, said she had received death threats over the booking.

But neither stage crashers nor protesters could stop ‘Ye from being great. “You are watching the greatest living rock star on the planet!” he declared.
