Sam Smith and Disclosure Cover Drake's 'Hotline Bling'

  /  09.16.2015

Sam Smith and Disclosure are no strangers to trends, so it’s not surprising that they’ve jumped on the hottest one of the season—covering Drake’s smash “Hotline Bling.” In a recent appearance on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, the brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence remixed the original’s mellow production with a thumping house bassline. Smith took on the vocals, adapting Drake’s originally subdued tones to his more dramatic style with towering falsetto flourishes.

Smith and Disclosure also sat down for an interview—asked who their favorite rappers were at the moment, Guy noted that “Drake and Kendrick are absolutely killing it” at the moment.

“Hotline Bling” has also received the cover treatment from Kehlani and Charlie Puth, Rita Ora, and Alessia Cara.
