New Music: Big Grams - 'Lights On'

  /  09.18.2015

We’re only a week away from the release of Big Boi and Phantogram’s hotly-anticipated collaborative EP Big Grams, so it’s not surprising that the group has just shared another track.

“Lights On” doesn’t stray too far from the formula we heard on the first single “Fell in the Sun” last week. Phantogram lays down neon-bright guitars and synth over chunky hip-hop breaks, and vocalist Sarah Barthel trades off her beautiful voice against Big Boi’s verses. This time around, the OutKast member reminisces about growing up in Savannah and raps having “had the blues” a few times in his life.

Big Grams’ 7-track EP drops Sept. 25 featuring appearances from Skrillex and Run the Jewels.
