New Music: Run the Jewels - 'Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)'

  /  10.05.2015

All summer long, Adult Swim has been releasing new music as part of its 19-week-long Singles program, and now the network has shared some new heat from Killer Mike and El-P’s Run the Jewels outfit.

“Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)” is the first single from the soundtrack to the forthcoming documentary Rubble Kings (due Oct. 30), about ’70s-era gangs in New York. The song starts with a sample of a man describing the violence he’s seen in the streets, and doesn’t let up from there. The beat is composed of distorted vocal samples, rattling percussion, and sirens, while El-P describes an environment where “everything out here is broken.”

Run the Jewels, who recently released its cat remix album Meow the Jewels, is currently on the “Jewels Runner Tour,” with supporting acts Boots, Fashawn, and CUZ.
