While promoting his new children’s book Happy!, Pharrell Williams stopped by “Ellen” on Monday. Clad in overalls, “The Voice” coach performed his latest single “Freedom” with some help from the Baes, and delivered an inspiring speech. He even invited some ladies in the audience to join him on stage, culminating with one big dance party.
“At a time where it seems like they keep trying to take everything from us—equality, love, religion,” said Pharrell. “It just seems like this is the time more than ever that we need to stand up for ourselves. Do you agree?”
Pharrell, who has produced a remix to A Tribe Called Quest’s classic “Bonita Applebum,” also endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in 2016. “It’s time for a woman to be in there,” he said. “Women think about things in a holistic way. It’s not just so individual. I just feel like it’s Hillary time.”
