New Music: Big Sean feat. Pharrell & Detail - 'What a Year'
As the curtain closes on 2015, Big Sean celebrates the “best year of [his] life” on a brand new song entitled “What a Year” featuring Pharrell Williams and Detail. Following a whirlwind year, the Detroit rapper reflects on going from “broke to breaking records,” playing shows in Rio with RiRi, his love life (“This year I’m done with crazy hos”), and the loss of his grandmother (“As long as I’m around, she gon’ be here in my DNA”), while Pharrell provides the hook (“It’s like I hit the light switch”).
He also acknowledges the thieves who broke into his L.A. home and stole his jewelry and hard drives that reportedly contained unreleased music. “BTW, you took the wrong hard drive,” he writes on the single cover.
In 2016, look out for Sean’s fourth album, which G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T says is “near done.” “I’m tryna make next year the greatest story ever told,” raps Sean.
