The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, & Sam Smith to Perform at Oscars

  /  01.28.2016

The first performers for the 88th Oscars have been revealed.

The Weeknd will take the stage at next month’s ceremony to perform his Fifty Shades of Grey hit “Earned It,” which is nominated for Original Song.

Lady Gaga will also perform her Oscar-nominated song “Til It Happens to You” from The Hunting Ground, and Sam Smith will sing “Writing’s On the Wall” from Spectre. Pharrell Williams will return to the Oscar stage following his 2014 performance of “Happy,” but it’s unclear if he will perform or just present.

Kevin Hart and Whoopi Goldberg are among the first slate of presenters, which also includes Benicio del Toro, Tina Fey, Charlize Theron, and Ryan Gosling.

This year’s Oscars has drawn controversy for its lack of diversity in the acting categories, and there have even been calls for a boycott.

The 88th Oscars, hosted by Chris Rock, will be broadcast live Sunday, Feb. 28, on ABC.
