Troy Ave Disses Joey Bada$$ on 'Badass'

  /  03.01.2016

The Troy Ave and Joey Bada$$ feud continues. After going back and forth in interviews, on Twitter, and on tracks for months, the beef reached a boiling point on Monday (Feb. 29) when Ave released his new Joey diss, “Badass.”

“I’m a savage,” the Major Without a Deal MC raps on the Yankee-produced track. “This gon’ leave you sad, bitch / Don’t get suicidal like your friend, here’s a casket / STEEZ burning in hell, my burner’s in my belt / I’m really killing shit, you ni**as killing yourself / Fucking weirdoes / Off the roof, steer clear, yo / This ni**a’s trying to fly, he think he a superhero / Splat, man, fuck you and that man / And all three labels you signed to, they wack, man.”

Upon its release, many criticized Ave for rapping about Capital STEEZ’s apparent 2012 suicide. The Pro Era rapper, who was Joey’s close friend, was 19 at the time of his death.

Joey hasn’t responded to “Badass” directly. However, shortly after the track was unleashed, he made some thinly-veiled references to it on Twitter.

In one tweet, he used DJ Khaled’s “you played yourself” tagline and in another, he promoted an image of himself and Diggy Simmons at a recent “Leaders of Tomorrow” event in New York.

The New York MCs have been feuding since at least June, when Ave called Bada$$ “fake independent” on Twitter. While Bad Mon tried to claim that there was no beef between the rappers, he more recently addressed this on “Ready,” a song released last week.

“With the 80/20 split, my ni**a, do the math,” Joey rapped. “My ni**a Kirk [Knight] just outsold Troy Ave.”
