DJ Khaled Signs with Epic Records, Readies New Album 'Major Key'

New deal alert! After teaming up with Apple and Roc Nation, DJ Khaled has announced his next major move—We the Best Music Group is joining Epic Records.

The producer will reunite with Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid following their previous work together at Def Jam. Through this partnership, Khaled is prepping his next album, Major Key.

“We the Best Music/Epic. Those two brands are synonymous with quality music. Iconic music,” Khaled said in a statement. “L.A. Reid was the first executive to give We the Best Music an opportunity to distribute my music on a grand scale. It is a very satisfying feeling to realign myself with someone who shares my vision of bringing fans the best music possible.”

Reid also shared his excitement over the reunion. “Khaled is a supremely gifted artist and social media guru whose music has defined hip-hop and R&B for the past decade,” he explained. “With an extremely loyal fan base radiating worldwide out of Miami, every new release by Khaled has now become a firestorm event and his devoted legion of fans only grows bigger by the day. With Khaled’s passion and creative savvy, together with our dedicated and versatile staff, we are poised to reach even greater heights together than ever before.”

It’s unclear when Major Key will land, but in a video released today, producer Southside revealed that Future and Khaled’s manager Jay Z are featured on an upcoming single.

“I got the new single with Future and Jay Z too, with Khaled,” Southside told DJ Whoo Kid. “I made it with Jake One. I fuck with Jake One. I sample Jake One’s shit a lot and a dude named G-Koop.”

Major Key, Khaled’s ninth studio album, is set to follow last year’s I Changed a Lot.
