It’s official. Mariah Carey is coming to “Empire.”
Ahead of her E! docu-series “Mariah’s World,” the pop diva will guest star and perform on the third season of Fox’s hit show, it was announced Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
She won’t exactly be playing herself, though there are some similarities between Carey and her character, Kitty, a “mega-superstar” who will collaborate with Jussie Smollett’s Jamal Lyon.
According to Variety, Mariah will play the mentor role, helping Jamal “dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough.”
Mimi joins a star-studded roster of guests for “Empire’s” highly-anticipated third season, which is also set to feature appearances by Kid Cudi, Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, French Montana, and Birdman.
Mariah is going to be all over the silver screen this year. She’s also taping the aforementioned “Mariah’s World,” which premieres Dec. 4.
The third season of “Empire” launches Sept. 21 and Carey’s episode airs Oct. 5.
