New Music: Wale feat. Eric Bellinger - 'One Reason (Flex)'

  /  09.09.2016

Wale and Eric Bellinger are flexing on their new SHINE collaboration, “One Reason.”

The bounce-filled track is all about flexing, sure, but it’s also about loyalty.

“You supposed to ride with that ni**a,” raps Wale, who is the face of Sean John’s Fall/Winter 2016 campaign. “Write with that ni**a / Hand on the Bible, empower that ni**a / Smile at that ni**a, crash with that ni**a / Movie be dumb as hell, still you laugh with a ni**a.”

Later, Wale turns “One Reason” into a song about forgiveness too. “Cry with that ni**a,” he raps. “Apply all your effort / You can be mad at times but in time, just forgive him / Be there for a ni**a, you can shine with a ni**a / America can be so fuckin’ hard for a ni**a.”

Speaking of writing with one another, Wale said he and his “Women of Los Angeles” collaborator Bellinger have even more in store.

“Me and @EricBellinger gon put up numbers till further notice,” he tweeted. “Writers club. They never gave us a shot.”

“One Reason (Flex)” jumpstarts SHINE (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy) season following June’s Summer on Sunset. The album is expected before the end of the year, but no release date has been confirmed.
