New Music: Common feat. Gucci Mane & Pusha T - 'Black America Again (Remix)'
“Gucci Mane and Common / Did you see this comin’?” asks Gucci Mane on the remix to “Black America Again,” which also features Pusha T.
Though unexpected, the revamp ends up being quite powerful, politically, and socially conscious.
“Come look into the eyes of a man named Gucci,” rhymes Guwop. “Got me peeping out the blinds like Malcolm with the uzi / The government, the church, and the world is so polluted / They callin’ me a criminal and I’m a revolution.”
King Push also lends some self-aware bars by referencing Malcolm X. “I confess,” he raps. “I’ve been part of the problem / As of lately, I’m trying to solve ’em / I sold dope and I still talk the jargon / Just like Malcolm ‘fore the X was on him.”
Offering a brand new verse, Common also drops a strong 16. “We wow the world with black magnificence,” he raps. “A symphony for the divine and we the instruments / Black innocence.”
The original “Black America Again” features Stevie Wonder and is the title track off Common’s latest album, which is available now.
