New Music: D∆WN - 'Stars'
The “Stars” are out for D∆WN.
After releasing her third album Redemption on Friday, Dawn Richard has unleashed “Stars,” a special gift for fans who are supporting her new material.
The airy bonus track, produced by MachineDrum, allows the vocal powerhouse to harmonize angelically with some slight Auto-Tune distortion.
“I’m popping pills in this motherfucker,” she sings. “Wanna live in this motherfucker / I can’t breathe in this motherfucker.”
Released yesterday, Redemption features appearances by Trombone Shorty and PJ Morton. “I spent more time on this album than any other era because I wanted it to be special,” D∆WN shared. “I wanted to speak on self discovery. What it means to be black. To be a woman. To speak on gay rights. To speak on black crimes. To talk about sexual discovery. And to find redemption in having a voice to do so.”
