A Tribe Called Quest Tops Billboard 200

A Tribe Called Quest kicks it at No. 1 once again.

Topping the charts for the first time in over two decades, the legendary group celebrates success once again with their final album, We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service.

Unveiled Nov. 11 through Epic Records, Tribe’s first album in 18 years moved 135,000 equivalent album units (112,000 traditional) for the week ending Nov. 17, as per Billboard.

We got it is the seminal rap group’s second No. 1. Their first was 1996’s Beats, Rhymes and Life. Those 20 years and three months mark the longest gap between No. 1s among rap acts, breaking Jeezy’s relatively new record, which was eight years and two months between The Recession and this month’s Trap or Die 3.

We got it from Here… is Tribe’s first album since 1998’s The Love Movement and the first since Phife Dawg’s passing in March.

Perhaps what makes this No. 1 even more special is the fact that it was announced on Sunday (Nov. 20), on the day that would have been Phife Dawg’s 46th birthday.

The remaining albums on the Billboard 200 will be released later today.
