The Weeknd's 'Starboy' Projected to Sell 350,000-400,000 in First Week

  /  11.27.2016

Look what he’s done. The Weeknd’s Starboy is headed straight to No. 1.

The album, which features Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Lana Del Rey, is on track to sell between 350,000-400,000 equivalent album units (225,000-275,000 traditional) in its first week, according to HITS Daily Double. These numbers would easily put him at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

His last album, 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness, was also impressive, opening with 412,000 units (326,000 in pure album sales).

Starboy has spawned the Daft Punk-assisted title track, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, the album is No. 1 in 80 countries on iTunes. Final numbers won’t be released until Sunday (Dec. 4).

In February, The Weeknd is set to kick off his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall” world tour in Europe before coming to North America in April.
