New Music: Papoose - 'Obituary 2016'

  /  01.02.2017

Before carrying on with the new year, Papoose offers an “Obituary” for 2016. Over a jazzy instrumental, he offers respect to the dead, including The Greatest.

“Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer, a leader,” he raps. “When he spoke, his words rhymed, motivational speaker.”

The song continues, offering condolences to others like the late Prince. “Prince, the world know his name,” he raps. “I just wanna see you dancing in the Purple Rain.”

“All of us weren’t fortunate enough to see the new year,” he wrote on Instagram. “Let’s take this time to send condolences to those who didn’t make it. Unfortunately, every year I release this track to pay my respects as an artist and as a human being.”

Released ahead of Hoodie Season 3, the eighth installment of Pap’s “Obituary” series also references Phife Dawg, Shawty Lo, Afeni Shakur, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, George Michael, Alan Thicke, Nancy Reagan, Craig Sager, and Fidel Castro.
