Migos Reacts to Super Bowl Halftime Show Petition

  /  01.30.2017

A petition asking for Migos to replace Lady Gaga at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show has been signed by more than 51,000 people. Now, Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset say they’re ready for the big game.

“I didn’t even know it was real,” Quavo tells Music Choice of the fan-started petition. “People really got signatures. Let’s do it. We ready to perform. We need to go to the Super Bowl. We got the Atlanta Flacons and we got the Atlanta trio. You got the greatest team and we got the greatest team. We’re going to get our first championship. We’re going to go get our first championship with the album.”

A petition requesting the removal of the Migos petition has also been made. At press time, it’s received 593 signatures. But there are several other Change.org petitions calling for Gaga to be removed as well, including one that’s been signed by more than 15,000 people.

That petition, made by Donald Trump supporters, claims that the Super Bowl is often a “leftist” event. “If they do not change the propaganda halftime show with angry leftist agitator Lady Gaga, we will continue to boycott the NFL, including their 2017 Superbowl, and related sponsors,” reads a statement.

So far, the National Football League has not commented on the petitions, but Lady Gaga has been rehearsing for the halftime show extravaganza, which is scheduled to take place Feb. 4 during Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons in Houston.
