New Music: Mariah Carey feat. YG - 'I Don't'
MC is back. Fresh off the season finale of her E! docu-series “Mariah’s World,” Mariah Carey teams with YG on her new single “I Don’t.”
The ’90s-inspired jam, produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, is a breakup anthem in the wake of the singer’s nixed engagement to billionaire James Packer.
“When you love someone,” she sings, repurposing Donell Jones’ “Where I Wanna Be.” “You just don’t treat them bad / You messed up all we had / Now, you think I’m comin’ back / But I don’t.”
The heartache continues as she opens up about their failed romance. “I tried to make it work / No matter how much it hurt / You had to make it all about you / Tell me why you go and do me like you do.”
Meanwhile, YG adds some West Coast flavor. “I know you love me,” he raps. “You just don’t trust me / You don’t understand me / But you love it when I call you Miss Carey.”
A music video for “I Don’t” has also been shot. Filmed at an opulent mansion with lavish chandeliers and a grand staircase, the teaser shows a shirtless YG in a black blazer and shades.
He later joins Mimi in a white Rolls-Royce Phantom. Clad in white lingerie and also a black S&M-inspired look, Mariah drapes herself over the hood of the rain-soaked car, with YG riding shotgun.
