After taking fans to South Africa in the video for “BDY On Me,” Omarion returns with “Distance,” the infectious first single off his upcoming album Reasons.
Primed for the dance floor and seasoned with Caribbean flavors, “Distance” allows O to flex his “Smooth Operator” skills in a tip of the hat to Sade.
“Get me on the phone,” he sings. “I be up late night talking like a smooth operator / Losing all control / I need that boom-boom right now, baby.”
Last month, the R&B heartthrob spoke with Rap-Up about his upcoming video for “Distance,” which was also shot in South Africa.
“I can’t wait for people to hear, for people to see it,” he explained. “We shot the video in South Africa. That was an amazing experience. We actually shot three different videos over there. It was an amazing experience to be in a place…for the first time. You’re really connected with the experience…The video is amazing. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Reasons, O’s first album since 2014’s Sex Playlist, is set to arrive this year featuring a collaboration with Kehlani (“Angel”).
