New Music: Wale feat. DJ Luna - 'You Got It (Freestyle)'

Before releasing his forthcoming album SHiNE, Wale unleashes an 11-track mixtape, aptly-titled Before I SHiNE.

Ten of the project’s 11 tracks have previously been released, including “Groundhog Day,” “Black Is Gold,” and “Heisman Watch.” The sole new track, “You Got It Freestyle,” features DJ Luna.

Over boom-bap production and scratches, Folarin raps about his status in the game. “Fa sho,” he raps. “Ni**as say I’m underrated after letting me know / Lil’ homie, you got it, and so / I might not get the trophy, but I get all of their soul.”

“Here’s an update on the vibes .. all CDQ everything,” tweeted Wale. “And I snuck in one brand new track.”

Wale’s fifth LP SHiNE, his first official studio album since 2015’s The Album About Nothing, is due this year. In support of the new project, Folarin is also heading out on “The Shine Tour,” which kicks off May 5 in Atlanta.
