Kanye West's 'Life of Pablo' Goes Platinum

  /  04.04.2017

Yeezy makes history yet again. Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo has become the first streaming-only album to earn a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

According to Def Jam, the 22-time Grammy winner earned his platinum certification from the RIAA after TLOP garnered more than 3 billion streams, enough to qualify for one million equivalent album units.

The “living album,” which was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammys, has been making waves since its release as a TIDAL exclusive back in February of 2016. Nearly two months after its release, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 94,000 equivalent album units. It was the first album to top the Billboard 200 with a majority of its sales attributed to streaming.
