New Music: Cam'ron - 'D.I.A.'

  /  06.13.2017

Killa Cam is back. A few months after sampling Vanessa Carlton, Cam’ron returns with the Ric Flair-inspired “D.I.A.”

Following classic Nature Boy soundbites, the Dipset leader explains the song title to fans with his trademark braggadocios bars.

“I’m D.I.A.,” he raps. “What’s that? Done it all / Baby, turn around, yeah, you’re the one I call / Her friend said, ‘What you want?’ I looked and said, ‘None of y’all.'”

Speaking to Noisey, the Harlem MC revealed that he plans on dropping more material this year, including two albums (Killa Season 2 and The Program) as well as multiple films.

“We’re going to put out a movie with the album and keep putting movies after that,” he said. “So instead of shooting 9, 10, 11 videos, what we’re doing is writing the script.”

The rapper-turned actor, who starred in Paid in Full, said he’s ready for these films to showcase a different side of his personality. “The movies that I’ve done in the past, everybody’s been like ‘Cam always gets away in a movie playing Cam,'” he added. “So, like, I’m trying to step outside the box a little bit just to show my range in acting.”

According to Cam, one of those films will be an Unfaithful-like flick about interracial romance. “Kinda ‘once you go black you never go back’ kind of thing,” he explained. “But it’s kind of deeper than that.”
