Kendrick Lamar Remixes 'DNA.' for NBA Finals

  /  06.15.2017

This year, Kendrick Lamar participated in a series of promos for the NBA Playoffs. During the last game of the Finals, he also debuted a brief remix of DAMN.‘s “DNA.”

Over the same pulsating Mike WiLL Made-It beat, K-Dot unleashed some triumphant bars. “I got motivation, realization in my DNA,” he raps. “I got devotion and emotion in my DNA / Eyes open wide, yeah, we only want the prize / Standing ovation and celebration for our DNA.”

Fittingly, the clip played along with celebratory footage of this year’s championship squad, the Golden State Warriors, basking in Finals glory. Coincidentally, the team had its parade throughout San Francisco this afternoon.

Prior to this unveiling, K-Dot’s “HUMBLE.” soundtracked the start of the NBA Playoffs. Also produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, the track helped showcase this year’s contenders.

Once two teams remained — the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers — another “HUMBLE.”-based clip popped up. This time, K-Dot offered commentary.

“A rivalry and trilogy making more history,” said Lamar. “Cavs and Dubs…in year No. 3. Two teams that are the best. Only one will taste glory. Familiar plot that deepens the same big story. There’s levels to it. You and I know.”

Next month, Kendrick will continue to celebrate his latest album with “The DAMN. Tour,” which is set to launch July 12 in Phoenix. Following the first leg with Travis Scott and D.R.A.M., K-Dot and Big Baby will be joined by YG for a second leg starting Aug. 11 in Anaheim, Calif.
