Chance the Rapper Performs Tiny Desk Concert
Chance the Rapper hits the Tiny Desk.
After winning the Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards, Lil Chano teams up with NPR for the latest installment of its in-office concert series.
“Thank you for having us,” said Chano. “This is really cool. I’m a big fan of the series. I didn’t know it was actually, actually in an office, so this is very uncouth.”
Chance opened up the short set with a solo version of “Juke Jam,” a song off his Grammy-winning mixtape Coloring Book that also features Justin Bieber and Towkio. From there, he launched into a new poem he wrote called “The Other Side.”
“I still have all the keys that are of no use to me,” he said in the poem. “They used to, though. On the other side was a mansion on a hill, complete with L.A. pools and fireplaces and a rim made specifically for people that lie about being six feet to dunk on.”
Following his poetic endeavor, Chance covered Stevie Wonder’s 1974 classic “They Won’t Go When I Go.” “This is actually for somebody close to me that just lost somebody close to them,” he said.
