Beyoncé Taps Laverne Cox for Ivy Park Campaign

After teasing a mysterious “new project” with Beyoncé, Laverne Cox has been revealed as the star of Ivy Park’s 2017 Autumn/Winter campaign.

The “Orange Is the New Black” actress shared her excitement during an interview with People. “It’s like dreaming,” she said. “To be honest, it doesn’t feel real. It feels like some weird fantasy that I’ve had since Destiny’s Child.”

As a fan of Queen Bey and Ivy Park, this moment marks a special occasion for Cox. “It feels amazing that I get to be a part of this brand that has already inspired me and be working with a woman who has especially been a huge inspiration to me and so many folks around the world,” she added.

For the campaign, which also features Karen McDonald, Grace Bol, and Souffrant Ralph, Cox said she tried to channel the songstress. “It’s about tapping into your inner hero,” she said. “Beyoncé is someone who has pushed herself beyond what even she thought she could do. It’s a sense of becoming a superwoman, and really pushing yourself beyond all measure.”

Through a statement, Beyoncé explained the goal of the campaign. “True beauty and power are born out of strength of character and defined from the inside out,” she said. “There is no one standard of beauty.”

Last month, Cox teased the collaboration on “Access Hollywood.” “Yes it’s true,” she tweeted. “I am collaborating with @beyonce on a new project. #QueenBey herself. More details Sept. 6. #Beyonce #TransIsBeautiful.”
