Eminem Signs Boogie to Shady Records

BY Andres / 10.11.2017

Eminem is welcoming Compton rapper Boogie to Shady Records. The union was announced on Tuesday (Oct. 11), just one day after Marshall Mathers’ explosive anti-Donald Trump verse hit the BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Boogie — who stood behind Em during the freestyle — joins the Shady Records family after building buzz through his Interscope releases. Last year, his acclaimed song “Ni**a Needs” and its video even earned praise from Rihanna, who once called him her “new fav.”

In the last three years, Boogie has released a series of projects, including Thirst 48, The Reach, and last year’s Thirst 48, Pt. II, which featured the aforementioned “Ni**a Needs,” as well as collaborations with DJ Quik, Mozzy, and K Camp.

In honor of this move, Boogie joined the Shady-Griselda crew in a digital edition of BET’s cypher, which featured Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher.

Rocking a denim suit, Champion cap, and Off-White bag, Boogie rhymed about race, police, women, and Compton. “Don’t holler out my name unless you’re talking about the best,” he rapped. “You keep looking at my skin, this ain’t ordinary flesh.”
