Big Sean continues a Thanksgiving tradition.
In the spirit of the holiday, the superstar rapper returned to his home state of Michigan to hand out more than 5,000 turkeys to families in need at River Rouge High School in the city of River Rouge.
Sean was participating in Tarence Wheeler’s 19th annual All-Star Give Back, which was organized by the I Decided. rapper and a series of former athletes like Gary Payton, Dave Bing, and Derrick Coleman. Last year, he handed out more than 2,000 turkeys, additional sides, and canned goods to families at the same event.

“This is the season to give,” said Sean, who was joined by his mother Myra. “This is the season to be with family, the people you love, and this is my family. The whole city is my family. This is a great thing that we could do for people.”
Later, Sean took to Instagram to celebrate the day. “Annual Turkey Giveaway away today,” he wrote. “We gave close to 5,000 turkeys w/ sides this year. I smiled so much today man. Too much love for everybody there! Blessed.”
After giving away turkeys, Sean also surprised a classroom of high school students with free shoes from Puma and gift cards to Footlocker. “I’m from the Detroit and I love everybody in here,” he said. “Y’all got what it takes to boss up and take it further than I ever did or anyone ever did. Much love to y’all. That’s why we’re here supporting you, showing you that we care about you, and that we’re here for y’all.”
