Kodak Black's Lawyer Questions Suspicious Arrest Procedures

  /  01.27.2018

Kodak Black’s legal team is questioning whether officers followed proper procedures during the Pompano Beach rapper’s most recent arrest for grand theft of firearms, neglect of a child, and weed possession.

Earlier this month, Kodak Black’s 2-year-old child was seen around drugs and a gun during an Instagram Live stream. Law enforcement officials caught wind of this and moved on the arrest with a search warrant. They uncovered 94.9 grams of marijuana, a loaded Glock with nine rounds, and a stolen Beretta handgun.

Now, Project Baby’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, is looking to see why there was no body camera footage of the arrest and why it was conducted by a gang task force, according to TMZ. The lawyer has reportedly filed legal documents to take depositions from three officers involved to have those questions answered.

Additionally, Cohen questions the treatment of Kodak’s child by law enforcement officials, according to The Blast. “[The baby was] left on the porch in a diaper and T-shirt staring at his father while he was in handcuffs, and did not get pants or shoes until Kodak’s legal team showed up and demanded the child be taken care of,” he says. “Why was the boy left out in the cold in nothing but a diaper?”

Furthermore, Cohen claims that officers didn’t respond to the case until five days later. He argues that they could have responded sooner, if they were truly worried about the infant’s well-being.

As a result of the incident, Kodak, who was already serving house arrest, was hit with multiple new charges, including grand them of firearm, possession of weapon or ammo by a felon, possession of marijuana, neglect of a child without great bodily harm, and probation violation. A portion of the arrest was captured on Instagram Live and can be heard below.
