Migos' 'Culture II' Headed for No. 1 Debut

  /  01.28.2018

Migos is whipping up the charts like it’s stir fry. The Grammy-nominated trio’s new album Culture II is headed for a big first week.

According to HITS Daily Double, the sequel to last year’s original is on track to sell between 180,000 and 200,000 units in its opening week, with 30,000-40,000 in traditional album sales. Figures are likely to adjust as concrete numbers roll in.

As the numbers indicate, streaming is a major proponent for the whopping stats. The album currently has five songs in the top 10 of Spotify’s U.S. Top 50 chart and nine of the top 10 songs on Apple Music’s Top Songs chart.

This should be enough to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. By comparison, Camila Cabello’s debut Camila opened atop the Billboard 200 last week with 119,000 units.

These numbers would exceed the first-week sales of the inaugural Culture. Led by the chart-topping single “Bad and Boujee,” the album became the group’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 131,000 units (44,000 traditional).

Upon the release of Culture II, Offset proclaimed Migos the “biggest group ever.” The project boasts collaborations with Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Ty Dolla $ign.
